If you want to know what cherry blossoms look like, you can find a million photos on Google. But if you want to know what cherry blossom season feels like, step into one of my paintings.

Each print has a one-inch white border to allow for matting and framing if desired. These giclees are printed on beautiful textured paper by CanvasKick.com, and their print shop is in my hometown in Texas, so shipping to USA only takes approximately 10 days.

For international orders, you can view and order my artworks via Fine Art America.

I spent an awesome afternoon exploring the culture and history of Japan with several of my Japanese language school classmates. We went to the Fukugawa Edo Museum to poke around in a life-size replica of an Edo-era neighborhood; ate lunch together and chatted with our teachers about similarities and differences between our own countries and Japan; and ended our day touring Kiyosumi Garden (清澄庭園), a traditional Japanese stroll garden.

As we made our way through meandering pathways to the far size of the large central pond, we found a secluded area full of fragrant fuchsia-colored cherry blossom trees. These trees with the deepest pink blossoms are called kanhizakura. People were gathered under each tree staring directly up into the low-hanging blossoms and breathing in their scents.

Standing here, I snapped the photo that renewed my passion for painting. I looked at that photo for days thinking it was nice, but it just couldn't convey the peaceful joy that I felt in the park that day. I finally pulled out my paintbrushes and got to work creating the sakura series, a visual memoir of the colors and emotions of my first cherry blossom season in Japan.
